Republican conservatives are not very bright, as we all know. They can be tough, yessiree, and abrasive as hell but, if you're honest, you know full well that their fears make them the easiest people to beat. That's how a bunch of scrawny libs in depression-era thinktanks and universities figured out how to beat the crap out of the rightie bad guys in Nazi Germany, fascist Italy and Imperial Japan in WWWII. It took a Democrat to pull this all together because Republicans don't believe in government - and they'll commit almost any white-collar crime and stomp on any beautiful object so as to screw everything up real good just to illustrate that point. Disgusting aren't they? Obviously righties don't believe any of this, but that doesn't matter. Just look at the record, make your plan and execute it.

The Cambridge Police should be training their officers to know the difference between legal and illegal conduct. What Gates did was probably not so smart -- in general, be nice to people carrying guns -- but it wasn't disorderly conduct. At least not in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

That explains why the charges against Gates were dropped. It wasn't because the police were trying to defuse the situation. It was because Gates had done nothing illegal.

Arresting someone for doing something that isn't illegal is pretty stupid.

Prescription drug advertising to lay persons is an action that is so blatant - on TV all the time - that everyone assumes this practice must be OK. It is not OK; it is ethically indefensible, it is criminal and it is at the center of one of the most egregious activities in the history of American business. And, as its most terrible affect, it is raping the pocketbooks of the average American and is killing the American economy.

Look to big pharma if you want to see the criminals of today. Nobody is motivated to make the arrests, so if you want to make a sure bet, put all your money on greed to win.
