Food Stamp Usage Soars Among Working Families

Are you actually 'big oil', Slick, or do you just work there and man the pump till they're finished with you? - not that it makes much difference; you're gonna vote R either way. Not me, I'm a tool of the masses and will vote D like a zombie lemming.

Have Sex - Make A Serf

"Our kids and grandkids will watch the GOP take away their safety net - worse, they'll watch us stand by and do nothing to stop it - like the great silence of the "greatest generation" when over 40,000 of their kids got drafted and killed in a useless Viet Nam war. Is this who we really are - people who will rob their own children of a secure future, substituting 'theory' and fear, wounding them - defining us down until we're hardly far enough off the dirt to be sanitary?

Wow, just imagine the honor and appreciation we'll receive as we lounge through our own retirement, explaining why the wealthy needed and deserved more and more wealth and lower and lower taxes. They'll probably have special names for us, and sing songs about us...

Someday, something's going to rise out of the babble and try to bring focus and power to the un-propertied working people of the western world - it may be long after we're gone, but I toast to their victory in advance.

Google Admits Scooping Passwords, Emails In Street View Privacy Breach

Do I believe Google? You betcha - like the guy in the movie "The Hangover" believes his wife:

Friend: "So your wife says you can't go to Vegas, but it's ok for her to fuck a bellhop on a Carnival cruise ship?"

Guy: "Well, first off, he was a bartender; second, she was wasted, and third he didn't even cum in her."

Friend: "And you believed that?"

Recession Was 'Just A Speedbump' For Richest Households: Report

Interesting. Well considered tax laws are one way to move a society in - hopefully - successful directions.

The part that doesn't quite resonate is that the businessman in your example isn't hiring workers, he's investing in assets - though in time it may lead to jobs.

Another tax plan - that may bring results much faster - could be to take a big chunk of that businessman's tax payments and channel it to working-class people so that they could then order the shirts that the businessman makes, which would make him need to hire some of them or buy an automatic shirt-making machine, built by worders.

Speaking of the past, I personally agree with the view that the 'great' depression ended because of WWII and the gigantic spending program that it demanded - lubricating and updating the entire depressed economy.

What stays on my mind as a possible solution to our malaise is that if, instead of making tanks, planes, tombstones and rubble, we embarked on a national course of action to build highways, transportation and energy systems and other valuable infrastructure, we could radically decrease unemployment and fill factories and emerge as we did at war's end - in a changed landscape with a strong, confident people ready to move forward. The one difference - and a significant one, is that we would not end up with paying customers in devastated lands clamoring for our goods and services, as we did after the war. I'm still working on

Cantor: Republican Leadership Will Consider Defunding NPR

A few weeks ago, when NPR actively pursued the tone of impartiality by announcing that employees were not to go to the progressive themed John Stewart sanity rally, we heard nary a peep from the now teary-eyed throwbacks on the Fox-GOP right.

But fire Juan Williams and, like a popped zit, Fox news exploded with mounds of fact-proof gibberish and pointed threats - further proof of the Fox toxin that's flowing into the body politic of America - they really should get their own National Anthem - something schmaltzy, to the beat of knee-jerks in 4/4 time.

GOP Candidate Stephen Broden: Violent Revolution Is 'On The Table'

This guy's 'confederate fantasy' makes his fingers itch for a trigger. If this dumb and incompetent Texas GOP rightie takes the next step and makes the big mistake, Americans will burn him down without hesitation.

He'd better get sober real quick and understand that he and his fellow believers will never ever be 'understood' or 'forgiven' for being that kind of traitor.

Put Bank Of America Into Receivership !!!!

FDIC Called On To Put Bank Of America Into Receivership: "foreclosure fraud epidemic is the work of precisely the same unrepentant bank officers whose fraudulent mortgage schemes crashed the financial system in the first place"...

..."William K. Black, a former regulator and white-collar crime expert who cracked down on massive fraud during the savings and loan scandal of the 1980s, and his fellow economics professor at the University of Missouri-Kansas City, L. Randall Wray, write in the Huffington Post that it's time to 'foreclose on the foreclosure fraudsters'. They write:

The lenders, officers, and professional that directed, participated in, and profited from the fraudulent loans and securities should be prevented from causing further damage to the victims of their frauds, through fraudulent foreclosures.
They argue that, far from being a coincidence, massive foreclosure fraud 'is the necessary outcome of the epidemic of mortgage fraud that began early this decade.' The reason for that:

The banks that are foreclosing on fraudulently originated mortgages frequently cannot produce legitimate documents... Now, only fraud will let them take the homes. Many of the required documents do not exist, and those that do exist would provide proof of the fraud that was involved in loan origination, securitization, and marketing. This in turn would allow investors to force the banks to buy-back the fraudulent securities. In other words, to keep the investors at bay the foreclosing banks must manufacture fake documents.... Foreclosure fraud is the only thing standing between the banks and Armageddon.'"

This is Uber Frightening !!!

Mortgage Crisis Is 'Cancer,' 'Slow Wasting Process,' Analyst Says

Mortgage Crisis Is 'Cancer,' 'Slow Wasting Process,' Analyst Says: 'Barack Obama is walking in Herbert Hoover's shoes. They're making the same mistakes, almost unconsciously.'

He discussed his own mortgage as emblematic. It was originated, he said, by Bank of New York and then sold to Lehman Brothers, who eventually packaged it in a security. But there's no court record of that.

'There's an awful lot of investors out there who don't know what they own,' Whalen said. 'This is a much broader issue than just contract law.'

Big Legal Clash on Foreclosure is Taking Shape

Big Legal Clash on Foreclosure is Taking Shape - NYTimes.com: "“You borrowed money,” he said. “You are obligated to repay it.”"

Bullshit. In a corporate business investment, the requirement is to repay the borrowed money, or return the property. That is the deal. Walking away is one of the options - defaulting is a technique. At the level of the individual borrower, citizens are shamed into believing that 'repay' - but not 'return', is the deal.
