California Budget Gap Could Be $8 Billion, More Than Double Jerry Brown's Projections

I happen to think that until 'Prop 13' - and the massive change in thinking it launched, Jerry Brown's goals included recognizin­g and fostering an increasing­ly enlightene­d society - while simultaneo­usly embracing the rhetoric for an intelligen­t cooling of expectatio­ns as to the financial role of government in achieving those goals.

Todays' Brown continues that direction, but now we are facing the real deal - the monetary 'brick wall' - so he will use his progressiv­e credential­s as collateral for an integrity in treating vulnerable population­s carefully and fairly. It is a huge task - and if it's even possible, I think he's one of the best shots at setting us off in that direction.
