Ryan is a mess. Ayn Rand infected his reason before adolescence, and any further guidance seems to have left chaos and vast misunderstanding. His adult guidance at home offers little hope. His wife's a tobacco shill alumnis, and his view of other examples of womankind involves his certainty as to how they should behave - and what rights they are to be allowed.
When it came to reaching the right wisdom from what's given, Ryan shrugged.
