Interestin­g... but I know for a fact that Rev. John McCausland is incorrect. When I was about 8 years old, my understand­ing of what was being taught in Sunday School led me to believe that if I recognized either Santa or Jesus I was failing in my loyalty to 'having only One God before me' - I actually thought it was a test. I have never forgotten the thinking that was suddenly necessary within me, and that led me to my choice, nor have I ever lost my sense of having passed a great test with flying colors...
