What he means is that he is "completely wrong" to say such a thing anywhere near a microphone - which is about everywhere on the planet. And that's what makes many citizens particularly uncomfortable - Romney is a man with values unfamiliar to the majority of Americans, whose lives play out in the increasingly threatened middle-class, and his spiritual backbone is as unknown to Americans as is the actual history of his religion.
He nailed it best himself - he's "just completely wrong".
