The police of old are gone - dead and never replaced. The new police want cash and jobs - justice is not their beat. Bad law, worse lawyers - and the total absence of political courage, has buried any honor the police ever possessed. And so we end up here, today, with the police profiting from drug prosecution, nearly destroying all remaining vestiges of respect the public still has for the police officer who knocks on the door - and certainly any expectation of being 'served' by the police has disappeared completely.
