Supreme Court Rules Cities May Seize Homes: "'Any property may now be taken for the benefit of another private party, but the fallout from this decision will not be random,' O'Connor wrote. 'The beneficiaries are likely to be those citizens with disproportionate influence and power in the political process, including large corporations and development firms.'"

Justice Antonin Scalia is usually just a feisty butter-ball, eager to tout his own particular understanding of imagined religious certainty, but this time he is in sync with actuality. A just public purpose does not include the creation of more income for the government.
