Terrorism Schmarorism - Bush Sees No Problem

Love This Port Deal - Gets Better Every Hour : "The parent company of a Dubai-based firm at the center of a political storm in the US over the purchase of American ports participates in the Arab boycott against Israel, The Jerusalem Post has learned."

If Israel was our ally then this might be a problem. Err... wait a second, they are our ....

Internet Tolls Are Next

These People Are The Internet Enemy: "'We do have to recover the cost for building the new capacity out there that the content providers are expecting us to provide,' said Jim Cicconi, AT&T Inc.'s senior executive vice president of external and legislative affairs.
AT&T already provides connections between offices of the same company, or between government offices, using AT&T's own lines rather than the public Internet. This allows AT&T to guarantee a certain quality level.
By prioritizing packets, AT&T could extend that service to the connection between a Web site and a surfer at home.
To the opponents, abandoning the 'network neutrality' principle opens up the prospect of the carriers blocking sites that don't pay up or that compete with the carriers' own services -- for instance, by providing phone calls.
The carriers have stoked those fears with some hard-line rhetoric. John Thorne, Verizon Communications Inc.'s senior vice president and deputy general counsel, was quoted by The Washington Post as telling a conference that Google 'is enjoying a free lunch that should, by any rational account, be the lunch of the facilities providers.'
Ed Whitacre, AT&T's chief executive, has raised eyebrows with similar statements to the effect that Google and Yahoo Inc. are freeloading on the Internet, a remarkable assertion considering both companies pay millions of dollars in Internet access fees, and their visitors pay for Internet access as well."

This is the Mecca of death for the internet !!!!! Stay tuned to this issue.

... like this...

"The next great idea, the next Google or eBay or Napster or whatever, won't have the capital to get themselves in the fast lanes right away," said Ben Scott at Free Press, a nonprofit that promotes freedom of speech. "The reason the big e-companies were so successful were that they started on the same level playing field as everyone else."

Another objection to packet prioritization is technical.

The Internet2 association assumed that prioritization was the way to go when it started building a super-fast next-generation network connecting universities.
However, engineers abandoned that notion after a few years, concluding that it's more effective simply to expand the network's capacity for all traffic -- adding lanes to the highway instead of a parallel toll road."

I Just Can't Wait For This Fight

If Roe Were To Go, Pain Will Remain: "The notion of a constitutional right to privacy is also the barrier that prevents government meddling in other areas where sex intersects with religious belief. Before that doctrine was established, states commonly dictated what forms of sex are acceptable, even between consenting adults, and criminalized the sale or use of contraception.
Unless checked, the process South Dakota is starting could lead to the most draconian rollback of personal liberties in U.S. history."

Bush is an Intelligence Gap

Fall Into The Gap With 'W': "The Coast Guard found 'intelligence gaps' that made it difficult to gauge whether an Arab company's takeover of some terminals at six U.S. ports posed a security threat, a Senate panel revealed Monday.
Sen. Susan Collins, R-Maine, released an unclassified excerpt from a secret Dec. 13 Coast Guard report that she said raised 'red flags.' "

Pink, Not Stupid

MTV.com: Pink: Not Dead, Not Stupid: "Consumerism diverts us from thinking about women's rights, it stops us from thinking about Iraq, it stops us from thinking about what's going on in Africa - it stops us from thinking in general."

Wherever the truth comes from is where you point your bow.

...more from Pink:

"I love the discussion that's going on right now. It's always nice to be missed, but I don't feel like I ever really went away. I don't know where I'd be coming back from. There's always a backlash when you challenge people's convictions and their heroes. But I don't do all this so I can be in Us Weekly every week. I don't do this so that people think I'm cool. I don't do it for — it sounds ridiculous — the fame or the money. I have incredible dogs, I have incredible friends, I have a gorgeous husband who loves me. I'm good. I love to sing and put my music out there, and I hope I can always do that. But I'm not going to forsake who I am or my integrity to have these things that I can't take with me anyway. I never said I was perfect, and I never said anybody else doesn't have permission to make fun of me for what I do. I'm a walking contradiction. I'm a hypocrite sometimes. I'm a work in progress. But I'm working to be better. I'm seeking out smart people and responsible women, and I'm standing up for animals. I'm not making fun of a certain person, I'm making fun of an idea, and I think they're missing the point. Sexy doesn't have to come with the price tag of being dumb. "

This is one terrific woman.

Texas Nonprofit Is Cleared After GOP-Prompted Audit

GOP Politician Lies In Vain Attempt To Get Democrats: "The Internal Revenue Service recently audited the books of a Texas nonprofit group that was critical of campaign spending by former House majority leader Tom DeLay (R-Tex.) after receiving a request for the audit from one of DeLay's political allies in the House."

The U.S. Government is being used day and night by righties to do whatever they can to destroy all democrat political efforts.

South Dakota Will Be Closed Untill Further Notice

Hey gang, let's not buy things from South Dakota !! Here's a website with lists of all kinds of South Dakota businesses that should feel the heat from all of us who are plumb fed up with the righties.

Do you believe in your womenfolk's right to choice?

This website gives you the power of payback: Let's do it !!!

The Medicare Drug Plans are a Republican Mess That Will Be Seen For Miles and For Years

Let's Kill Grandma's Safety Net: "Smith said participants need to carefully evaluate each plan because some carriers have pre-approved pharmacy locations and may only cover certain types of drugs.
For many seniors like Inman, researching all 60 plans and finding the most cost-effective one seemed overwhelming."

This is a profit center for the wealthy, who have their own, different, plans - in different buildings and far from the lines of people that used to be called the middle-class.

Coulter slips; makes sense

Greetings from the Dragonette: "There are at least 3,000 reasons why a company controlled by a Middle Eastern Muslim emirate should be held to a different standard than a British company. Many of these reasons are now buried under a gaping hole that isn't metaphorical in lower Manhattan. "

It's so depressing to find afinity with a statement from Ann "Missing Link" Coulter, but so be it.

AT&T Capo Sells Out Customers

AT&T sued over alleged role in NSA surveillance program: "The lawsuit also alleges that AT&T gave the government unlimited access to its database of caller information. That database, called Daytona, the EFF pleadings allege, tracks telephone numbers on both ends of a call as well as the duration of the call made on a land line. Daytona is used by AT&T to manage its Hawkeye database of call-detail records and the Aurora database used to store Internet traffic data since 2003, the EFF lawsuit alleges.
By opening its networks and databases to surveillance by the NSA, EFF alleges in its litigation that 'AT&T has violated the privacy of its customers and the people they call and e-mail.' "

These are the same crooks that intend to divide the internet into those who pay for speed , and all the rest of us. And we're talking about BIG fees that average companies and average citizens will not be able to afford. Mr. Ciccone, at AT&T, is one of the main perpetrators of this internet-killing idea.

Largest Ass Explains Hole - Keeps Digging It

Does This Guy's Ego Have Its Own Flag ?:

"RUSH: Jacksonville, Florida, this is Rob. You're up, sir, your turn.

CALLER: Dittos, Rush. Hey, I listened to your monolog about trying to equate the USSR and the Al-Qaeda problem as having the same solution. I just have to disagree with that. So one of the things I wanted to --

RUSH: I want to applaud you. I want to applaud you before you get into your point, because what you're doing takes guts.

CALLER: Thank you.

RUSH: You're disagreeing with me takes guts. You've seen many people try this and bomb out, fail miserably, and yet here you are going to try, and I applaud you. Go for it.

Oooo, ooo, I just gotta break in here... You know, the old testament is the natural instinct of man in words, the new testament is the words of priests, and the ravings of Limbaugh and the myriad rightie thugs is the fart spray of incomplete men. But read on, it sucks yet more:

CALLER: Thank you. The USSR is a government, and that is basically a system on how the people will conduct themselves.

RUSH: No. Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa who. The USSR was a system where the people had no choice in how to conduct themselves."

Bill O'Riley uses a Limbaugh to polish his Coulter.

24/7 Colonoscopy

NBC 4 - News - Surveillance Cameras To Monitor Santa Monica Promenade, Pier: "Tuesday night the Santa Monica City Council has given the green light for a new video surveillance system at the 3rd Street Promenade and the Santa Monica Pier."

If I can have your shit, I can know your life.

Chief Harold Hurtt Wants To See That Your Wife Is Legally Fucked

Houston Voters Pick A World of Hurtt: "'I know a lot of people are concerned about Big Brother, but my response to that is, if you are not doing anything wrong, why should you worry about it?' Chief Harold Hurtt told reporters Wednesday at a regular briefing."

"Houston's police chief on Wednesday proposed placing surveillance cameras in apartment complexes, downtown streets, shopping malls and even private homes to fight crime..."

Chief Harold Hurtt is the ageless face of the banality of evil. He represents the absence of liberty. He is what the fight for freedom is all about. He is they, and they are to be warred to the ground at all costs.

Arthur Miller's Eerie Prediction Of Where We Now Find Ourselves

As vital as ever -- a new collection reaffirms the might of Arthur Miller: ""The Crucible," which treats the Salem witch trials as an analogy for the anti-communist hysteria of the McCarthy era, is, as Miller wrote in the Viking introduction, more about the 'mystery' of how a 'campaign from the far Right was capable of creating not only a terror, but a new subjective reality, a veritable mystique which was gradually assuming even a holy resonance. ... It was as though the whole country had been born anew, without a memory even of certain elemental decencies that a year or two earlier no one would have imagined could be altered, let alone forgotten.' "

Astonishing description of the beginnings of the McCarthy era uncannily and precisely describes our own moment in history.

Arnold Has Got California Written All Over Him

And It'll Only Cost About A Penny A Gallon?? - Geesh, I'd Pay 2 Cents !: "'What you're considering in California is much broader than anything being discussed in other states -- it's very significant,'' said Ned Helme, president of the Washington, D.C.-based Center for Clean Air Policy, a nonprofit environmental think tank.

Sources at the state Environmental Protection Agency -- which is charged with writing the recommendations to achieve Schwarzenegger's goals -- say the proposal will call for a new charge on petroleum equal to less than a penny per gallon of gasoline. Conservative activists have begun to complain about the idea, branding it a gas tax. "

There he goes again, charming us progressives with ideas that seem like they flow from a rational human - not the thorough rattle-pate now drinking his nights away in the White House. At the moment, Arnold's certainly got my attention.

Arsenal For The Common Man

His only office is the park: "Li is one of just a handful of Internet investigative reporters, exposing corrupt officials and injustice on his China Public Opinion Surveillance Net (www.yuluncn.com).

Then he spreads his often outrageous, sometimes gruesome stories on some of the 49 blogs he uses to slip past censors.
'They shut down one, so I move to another,' he told Reuters.

'It's what Chairman Mao called sparrow tactics. You stay small and independent, you move around a lot, and you choose when to strike and when to run.'"

Now there are even more tactics available, such as "swarm and/or flock" operations. The accumulating "arsenal for the common man" will be the powerful counter-force of the future.

GAGGED NASA SCIENTIST WARNS: ICE CAPS 'MELTING FAST'

Republicans don't believe in the "reality based community": Jim Hansen, President George Bush's top climate modeller, is the director of the Nasa Goddard Institute for Space Studies in New York.

"A few weeks ago, when I - a Nasa climate scientist - tried to talk to the media about these issues following a lecture I had given calling for prompt reductions in the emission of greenhouse gases, the Nasa public affairs team - staffed by political appointees from the Bush administration - tried to stop me doing so. I was not happy with that, and I ignored the restrictions. "

Bush's political appointees are crawling the corridors of D.C., sticking wrenches in every set of gears they find. They are the sparks of the coming inferno - seared with religious conviction and sealed with philosophical ignorance, aiming at the heart of our culture. If not stopped, soon we will all be chanting their death-cult druid gibberish in order to qualify for a cop-free life.

Critics Slam Cheney's Interview Choice

FOX Unafraid To Spout Gibberish Using Brit Hume's Mouth: "John Moody, Fox's senior vice president for news editorial. 'I think he wanted to make sure he got a fair interview and a good interview -- good in the sense of thorough -- and Brit is sort of the pre-eminent journalist in Washington right now.' "

Brit Hume is a deep-voiced shill. His bullshit output is high by Fox standards - though not the highest. His little added cliche at the end of his broadcasts, "...and unafraid", is ever so adolescent and meaningless. John Moody has no idea what a pre-eminent journalism does for a living, so his statement is just syllables in the mist.

AT&T Wants to Control Internet

AT&T CEO Ed Whitacre says: "What they would like to do is use my pipes free, but I ain't going to let them do that because we have spent this capital and we have to have a return on it."

Ed Whitacre is the wiseacre trying to start something. He must be hounded out of the room and chased across the tundra like a rabid rodent. The internet must remain unfettered. This fuck don't fit the future. Dump him.

Unbelievable Intrusion OK By Me, say idiots

US group implants electronic tags in workers: "Sean Darks, chief executive of CityWatcher, said the glass-encased chips were like identity cards. They are planted in the upper right arm of the recipient, and read by a device similar to a cardreader.
'There's nothing pulsing or sending out a signal,' said Mr Darks, who has had a chip in his own arm. 'It's not a GPS chip. My wife can't tell where I am.'
The technology's defenders say it is acceptable as long as it is not compulsory. But critics say any implanted device could be used to track the wearer's without their knowledge. "

The Bleak Future Of Young Americans In The Republican Culture

American Youth Is Getting Screwed By The Republicans - But The Kids Don't Know It: "What's your advice for young adults who want to do better financially?

Most young people are already heeding the conventional financial advice and still not getting ahead: they're living with their parents, they're driving used cars, they're working full time and going to college. The previous generation understood that the personal is political, and fought for social change. This idea has been lost on our generation.

The best financial advice I can give is for this generation to awake from its political slumber."

I wish young Americans were as free as I was at their age. I owned it!

Enemas - While you sleep !!

Bush Slips Soc. Security Plan Into Budget : "But this year, with no fanfare whatsoever, Bush stuck a big Social Security privatization plan in the federal budget proposal, which he sent to Congress on Monday.

His plan would let people set up private accounts starting in 2010 and would divert more than $700 billion of Social Security tax revenues to pay for them over the first seven years."

Bush is a crook, a liar, and dumb as toast. But at least he knows how to piss folks off.

Stop Killing Westerners in the Name of Muhammed and We'll Stop Mentioning It

Rage Over Cartoons Perplexes Denmark: "Flemming Rose is not sleeping well these days. His cellphone glows with incoming calls. Cultural editor of Jyllands-Posten, Rose commissioned the caricatures..."

"'I think it's problematic when a religion tries to impose its taboos and rules on the larger society,' he said. 'When they ask me not to run those cartoons, they are not asking for my respect. They're asking for my submission'. To me, those cartoons are saying that some individuals have hijacked, kidnapped and taken hostage the religion of Islam to commit terrorism.'"

Press freedom is never to be surrendered to any entity. It is too absolutely essential for every human being who treasures free will. Yet, there is much room for consideration of exceptional circumstances without surrendering that freedom.

They Have No Reason To Be Decent

Boehner Rents Apartment Owned by Lobbyist in D.C. -Laughs at constituents: "Rep. John A. Boehner (R-Ohio), who was elected House majority leader last week, is renting his Capitol Hill apartment from a veteran lobbyist whose clients have direct stakes in legislation Boehner has co-written and that he has overseen as chairman of the Education and the Workforce Committee."

This is the Bush Plan for our Womenfolk

Only Small Men Would Do This To A Woman: "STRASBOURG, France (Reuters) - A Polish woman who was refused an abortion despite doctors' warnings that giving birth could damage her eyesight accused Poland on Tuesday of failing to protect her rights under its strict abortion law.
Alicja Tysiac, whose vision worsened after the birth and is now registered as disabled, asked Europe's human rights court to consider her complaint that she was unable to obtain an abortion on therapeutic or health grounds."

Spit in their faces when you can; destroy their world whenever possible; wave to them as they go to hell.

Perennial Rightie Gasbag Firmly Grips The Obvious

Pat Buchanan's clue finally arrives by Crippled Barefoot Pony Express: "His foreign policy is visibly failing, and his critics have been proven right. "

The truth has to be dead, moldy and smell before guys like Pat can even recognize it.

We Are Being Out Foxed

Amy Goodman - Executive Producer and host of US TV and Democracy Now!: "There is nothing more important than the media - it is more powerful than any bomb or missile and we have to take it back ... we need a media that is independent and honestly showing us the images, the hell, ugliness and brutality of war, not selling us war."

"The US media are 'dying'. says Newsweek's Paris bureau chief, Christopher Dickey: 'After 25 years as a foreign correspondent I know what the US wants from the rest of the world: to forget about it.'"

Joint Chiefs Send Rare Protest Letter to 'Wash Post' Over 'Reprehensible' Toles Cartoon

Joint Chiefs Send Rare Protest Letter to 'Wash Post' Over 'Reprehensible' Toles Cartoon: "'Now that the Joint Chiefs have addressed the insidious threat cartoons pose to our troops, perhaps they can move on to less pressing issues like getting them their damn body armor.'"

The Joints should shut the fuck up and get over to the White House and explain to the president the pathetic nature of his war plan.
