Yell at the Police - It's Legal
Obama Was Right About the Gates Arrest: "Massachusetts law clearly provides that Gates did not commit disorderly conduct.
The Cambridge Police should be training their officers to know the difference between legal and illegal conduct. What Gates did was probably not so smart -- in general, be nice to people carrying guns -- but it wasn't disorderly conduct. At least not in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
That explains why the charges against Gates were dropped. It wasn't because the police were trying to defuse the situation. It was because Gates had done nothing illegal.
Arresting someone for doing something that isn't illegal is pretty stupid.
Then again, perhaps Obama was wrong. Maybe the police officer wasn't acting stupidly. He was just acting abusively. That is even worse..."
"...Under Massachusetts law, which the police officer was supposedly enforcing, yelling at a police officer is not illegal.
There are clear decisions of the Massachusetts courts holding that a person who berates an officer, even during an arrest, is not guilty of disorderly conduct. And yet that is exactly what Gates was arrested for."
Railroading Gates ended badly for the force. They arrested a man who had not broken the law.

Hey Doc, I Need Damitol, 500 megs, STAT !!
Lawmakers Seek to Curb Prescription Drug Commercials: "“You should not be going to a doctor saying, ‘I have restless leg syndrome’ — whatever the hell that is — or going to a doctor saying, ‘I have the mumps,’ ” Mr. Nadler said in an interview. “You should not be diagnosed by some pitchman on TV who doesn’t know you whatsoever.”"
Prescription drug ads on TV is criminal to my way of thinking - it deliberately targets people's ignorance in order to extract money from them. It makes lay persons pressure doctors to prescribe drugs to avoid potential malpractice due to NOT trying something that MIGHT help a patient.
Prescription drug advertising to lay persons is an action that is so blatant - on TV all the time - that everyone assumes this practice must be OK. It is not OK; it is ethically indefensible, it is criminal and it is at the center of one of the most egregious activities in the history of American business. And, as its most terrible affect, it is raping the pocketbooks of the average American and is killing the American economy.
Look to big pharma if you want to see the criminals of today. Nobody is motivated to make the arrests, so if you want to make a sure bet, put all your money on greed to win.

GOP Gun Totting Racist Moron
Inhofe: The birthers ‘have a point,’ ‘I don’t discourage it.’: "The 'birthers' are neo-Confederate morons, stupid whites who hate non-whites and are furious that a non-white is in the White House.
Most of those folks have very little material wealth, and are played shamelessly by the holy roller theocrats such as Inhofe, who are hoping to install an evangelical theocracy in this country."
Inhofe should be executed, then indicted for idiocy.

Jeff "Boy" Sessions is not Shinola, say experts: "'I don't believe that Judge Sotomayor has the deep-rooted convictions necessary to resist the siren call of judicial activism...'"
Well, I'm shocked. I thought that after he heard all the facts - and all the answers from the judge, that this boy would come to a different conclusion. Then I realized that he probably understood very little of the new testament, probably never ever smoked a doobie in his life, and can't think of anything more enlightening than his morning poop.

Self Defense
Black officer at Gates home supports arrest: "Gates reaction to Crowley, 'a little bit stranger than it should have been.'"
So, being a "bit stranger" in public, in front of an officer, is a crime in this country?
I musta missed that part of the Constitution.
Is eccentric now a misdemeanor? Is off-beat a public menace?
And now, "crime scene" witness Sgt. Leon Lashley decides that Gates' reaction was "a little bit stranger than it should have been."
Who the fuck is Lashley to make that determination? Are we at the sidewalk court stage now, where "some guy" tells us our fate?
The cops think you have a gun, so get one - it is now required, and if you are about to lose your liberty, pull the trigger. Word.

Piggy's Got The Conch !! Again !!
Lou Dobbs: "Limp-Minded, Lily-Livered Lefties" Attacked Me Because I Had The "Temerity To Inquire As To Where The Birth Certificate Was": "CNN has a very serious Lou Dobbs problem on its hands,' said Eric Burns, President of Media Matters. 'All eyes are on CNN to see how the network will handle a host who has clearly become a stain on its journalistic credibility."
Yes, "lily-livered lefty", yowee! That must be a dynamite comeback to... something...
It's terrific to see Lou Dobbs out there trying to order respect like it's an appetizer on the fat boy menu at Hooters. Sitting up like a raised seal, he yells "Piggy's got the Conch", hoping someone might like him - though all those around him are snickering and planning where to bury him.
How could Lou Dobbs not be a birther?

GOP First Responders To The Rescue
Leader Of GOP Health Care - Blunt and to the point: "Blunt’s quote went up online late yesterday evening:
“Our bill is never going to get to the floor, so why confuse the focus? We clearly have principles; we could have language, but why start diverting attention from this really bad piece of work they’ve got to whatever we’re offering right now?”"
Yes, they have principles. And they have interests. They are all about the principle that GOP interests are paramount.

He's The Double-Flush Champ
Newt Gingrich: We Need To Kill Health Care Reform: "If you're asking me if it would be a good idea to beat a bill that I think will ration care, increase government control over your life, strengthen the power of politicians, run up the deficit, raise taxes and kill jobs, yeah I think we ought to stop that proposal."
This prick tries to save his shit before the toilet flushes - he's that enamored of his perceived importance.

Bill Kristol: "This Is The Week To Kill Health Care"
It's that Republican Waterloo Spirit: "At the Weekly Standard, editor Bill Kristol has declared war on health care reform, telling Republicans now is the time to 'go for the kill.'"
Can't somebody put Kristol's photo on the men's room wall at the Midnight Mission - attached to a check for $1000.00? So much wonderfullness could flow from that....

"I Am Just Going To Have To Create Pain"
Sen. DeMint: "I Am The Glans Asshat Of The Senate":"'I am not going to be able to persuade my colleagues to do the right things, so I am just going to have to create pain.'"
Ding! It's time to put healthcare reform off some more; so gather round all of us and lets watch Mika and Joe go to the doctor to check paternity results, or let's make sure Senator Yourstate gets a new MRI, and Boehner gets that much needed head exam, or lets stand here and watch a flock of government employees in Washington get aspirin a la mode for flocking ever.
Or, let's get real and stop TV advertising of prescription drugs.

What, We Worry?
Everyone now hates journalists, who've been missing for years: Back in 'Nam - "General Stilwell tried to take the intimidation a step further. He began by saying that Neil and I had bothered General Harkins and Ambassador Lodge and other VIPs, and we were not to do it again. Period.
And I stood up, my heart beating wildly -- and told him that we were not his corporals or privates, that we worked for The New York Times and UP and AP and Newsweek, not for the Department of Defense."
Those years have become increasingly grim and intellectually dismal and unclear to succeeding generations until, with nothing to attract, they are dropped from memory and disappear into data, living occasionally within songs and in the back-stories of revisited movies, but basically dead to the new, active citizens of today.

Too many journalists believe it's not their job to challenge authority or report what authority does not like to have reported.

Senator DeMint Channels Jeff Davis - Buys Ticket Home - Ends Career: "'If we're able to stop Obama on this, it will be his Waterloo,' Sen. Jim DeMint (R-S.C.) said yesterday during a conference call with conservative activists. 'It will break him.'"
What a prick!
Ok DeMint, it starts now - you want to fight, and now you're in one. You'll be in 2 pieces real soon now; that's what broke's gonna look like.

Cowards Down The MIddle
Gang Of Six Centrist Senators Demand Delay On Health Care Reform:
Cowards - every one of them, especially the 'moderates'. There will no substantive healthcare reform because there is too much money to be made selling prescription drugs to the public through the intimidation of doctors eager to avoid malpractice due to perceived inaction.
A lifeboat carrying the Gang of Six rows with righteous restraint through the other gang, a multitude of swimmers grasping at extended oars - and shaken loose to cry out their last breaths.

"'Well, you look incredible -- what's your secret?
Cloris Leachman: It's from making the right decisions... I actually became a vegetarian at 35. Eating right really is the secret.
What's the best diet tip you've ever heard?
Cloris: Well, if you brush your teeth, you don't want to eat something right after because your mouth feels so fresh. So brushing your teeth actually prevents you from eating until later....'"

Lindsey's Little Secert
Maureen "White Woman" Dowd Comments On White Man's Last Stand: "Republican Lindsey Graham read Sotomayor some anonymous comments made by lawyers about her, complaining that she was 'temperamental,' 'nasty,' 'a bit of a bully.' Then he patronizingly lectured her about how this was the moment for 'self-reflection.'"
Graham is way off base with that statement. Lindsey's little secret is that he can make one sick with the awful issues of his character.

Cheaper Healthcare is Awful
GOP Representative Worried That Public Option Has Lower Costs, "Advantages": "'Our fear is that if you actually get in there looking at the legislation that it's set up in a way that employers would increasingly opt to letting their employees move over to the public, to the public option. And because it is cheaper, it's designed to save money, which the government-run program has some very clear advantages, and the claims that it's gotta pay for itself that through the first three years of this there would be government subsidies.'"
Remember to say "Bugsy" when you think of these idiots; then it all makes sense - they're criminals with a nice, easy to stomach moniker -in this case "capitalist."

And I don't think you will.' Beck ridiculed Graham for this: 'Does anybody remember when Lindsey Graham wasn't a worm?'"

Justice Roberts is a Fraud
Roberts Is An Anchor, Stuck On The Muddy Bottom, Stopping America From Completing Its Voyage:
"For all the talk of "modesty" and "restraint," the right wing Justices of the Court have a striking record of ignoring precedent, overturning congressional statutes, limiting constitutional protections, and discovering new constitutional rights: the infamous Ledbetter decision, for instance; the Louisville and Seattle integration cases; the first limitation on Roe v. Wade that outright disregards the woman's health and safety; and the DC Heller decision, discovering a constitutional right to own guns that the Court had not previously noticed in 220 years."
...and:
Benito Mussolini with a new skin - and a more boring personality: "...in every major case since he became the nation's seventeenth Chief Justice, Roberts has sided with the prosecution over the defendant, the state over the condemned, the executive branch over the legislative, and the corporate defendant over the individual plaintiff."
Did you catch the phrase, "in every major case"? What that means is that in "every major case" this asshat has sided with the state or a corporation over the individual.
Roberts is a powerful, rancid GOP repeater of myth and fear. Drag him off the bench and find a plaza and a rope.

Future's Needs
When God makes a mistake, she means it: "Before he became John Paul II, Karol Wojtyla had a telling all-or-nothing formulation: 'If it should be decided that contraception is not an evil in itself then we should have to concede frankly that the Holy Spirit is on the side of the Protestant Churches.'
...But authority—not truth, not love—prevailed: Pope Paul VI, listening to the advice of Wojtyla, disagreed with the majority of these advisers, who had voted 69 to 10 for change, fretting that to change this position would weaken his authority."
The fear is real that interfering with the circumstances leading to procreation is to threaten the holy requirements of life itself.

Careless Sower of Discord
An Elite Confection: from Peggy Noonan -"The world is a dangerous place. It has never been more so, or more complicated, more straining of the reasoning powers of those with actual genius and true judgment. This is a time for conservative leaders who know how to think."
..."She can memorize the names of the presidents of Pakistan, but she is not going to be able to know how to think about Pakistan. Why do her supporters not see this? Maybe they think "not thoughtful" is a working-class trope!"...
..."Here are a few examples of what we may face in the next 10 years: a profound and prolonged American crash, with the admission of bankruptcy and the spread of deep social unrest; one or more American cities getting hit with weapons of mass destruction from an unknown source; faint glimmers of actual secessionist movements as Americans for various reasons and in various areas decide the burdens and assumptions of the federal government are no longer attractive or legitimate.
The era we face, that is soon upon us, will require a great deal from our leaders. They had better be sturdy. They will have to be gifted. There will be many who cannot, and should not, make the cut. Now is the time to look for those who can. And so the Republican Party should get serious, as serious as the age, because that is what a grown-up, responsible party—a party that deserves to lead—would do.
It's not a time to be frivolous, or to feel the temptation of resentment, or the temptation of thinking next year will be more or less like last year, and the assumptions of our childhoods will more or less reign in our future. It won't be that way.
We are going to need the best."

Sarah of Alaska
"Don't write off Saint Sarah all you political pundits, press smartypants..."
"...beware to all Republicans and Democrats who count her out of the 2012 presidential race."
If America really has decided it will not go progressive, then Sarah Palin is the most electrifying of the remaining choices; maybe the only one. But in choosing her, America will return to its slow nose-dive to the museum, with a strained and desperate working-class stripped of dreams and accomplishments; merely toiling through the years.
The deafening collapse of American relevance would not be lost on the rest of the planet. The world will never welcome Sarah Palin - which further endears her to the hearts of America’s republican-confederates - as time goes by.

Audra Shay - The Latest In GOP Bagheads
What's New In Racism: "“Obama Bin Lauden [sic] is the new terrorist… Muslim is on there side [sic]… need to take this country back from all of these mad coons… and illegals.
Eight minutes after that, at 2:02, Shay weighed in on Piker’s comments: 'You tell em Eric! lol.'"
..."her friend Piker came roaring back: “I agree with dale… this is still America… freedom of speech and thought is still allowed… for now any ways… and the last time i checked I was a good ole southern boy… and if yur ass is black don’t let the sun set on it in a southern town…”
Audra Shay does not belong in front of an American audience.
And the beat goes on...
Whoa, it's a double bagger !: "'This is an outrage and I CAN NOT believe this nation has him as our leader! It makes me sick!' She posted a few minutes later: 'My disdain for Obama is directly proportionate for his disdain of this country.'"
..."A friend of Shay’s named Derick Moss soon weighed in, writing: 'Here's what I am getting tired of: If you call Obama a socialist, terrorist, anti-American, whatever, then you're kinda calling me that, too, cause I voted for him and support him (for the most part). Or, you can claim that I didn't really know what I voted for, and in doing so you're kinda saying I'm ignorant and questioning my intelligence…'
Three minutes later, in response to Moss’ suggestion for rational discourse, Shay replied: “I think that you are ignorant if you believe this man is anything but anti american. He freely rights [sic] about Marxist philosophies. I never called him a terrorist, but if his policies are socialist (which they are) then what would you call him? His actions speak very loudly and his actions are very anti american. You just can not get past it. You might not like it but the truth is what it is.”

Killing McNamara
A Great Pleasure: "'I have never killed a man, but I have read many obituaries with great leasure.' —Clarence Darrow (1857–1938)"
..."He immediately opened the door and told McNamara there was a radiophone call for him on the bridge. McNamara set down his drink and stepped outside. The artist immediately grabbed him, wrestled him to the railing and pushed him over the side. McNamara managed to get his fingers through the holes in the metal plate that ran from the top of the railing to the scuppers.
McNamara was screaming bloody murder; the artist was prying his fingers loose one at a time. Someone heard the racket and raced out and pulled the artist off.
By the time the ferry docked in the vineyard McNamara had decided against filing charges against the artist, and he was freed and walked away."
Now that's an anecdote !!!

An i for an iPhone
"His Precious, Mad With Heat, Nearly Dies", say Police: In Winneka, Illinois "...a local resident, whose name is being withheld by police pending a full investigation, left an iPhone unattended for more than three hours in a car parked in the hot sun."
..."'What kind of a human being is capable of such callous disregard for a precious, precious thing?' said one concerned Winnetka resident, tax lawyer Ben Klein."
..."'My husband and I have been trying for months, but so far, we've been unable to have an iPhone,' town assemblywoman Janet Nuetreer said. 'But if we did, we would understand that there is nothing more important. Every iPhone is a gift from God.'"
