Kansas Abortion Bill: Governor Sam Brownback Likely To Sign Sweeping Legislation

I can't believe what I'm hearing. As long as it's done to prevent an abortion, doctors would be exempt from "malpractice suits if they withhold information that could have prevented a health problem for the mother or child."

This is a mega-intrusion by government on the individual, and it's outrageous. There is no chance I would accept this - or any politician who even glances in that direction.

We need to make sure we can rise to the challenge when a big, threatening asteroid shows up on our radar, Schweickart and Nye said. Civilization's very survival depends on it.
"If there is a community of intelligent life out in the universe ... those intelligent beings will have already conquered this challenge," Schweickart said. "Our entrance exam to that community of intelligent life is to pass this test."

Why Artists Aren't Rock Stars

In the heyday of the 60s-70s art world, I believed that if you did it for money, it was crap. That's perhaps too severe, but like a lot of that era, things were felt in the extreme, and art was there to react to it. Which still seems rather correct to me because, well, life itself is an extreme situation, don't you think?

Michelle Ugenti, Arizona State Representative, Defends Tuition Bill To Students: 'Welcome To Life'

...yup, any time the prison situation can be mentioned, described, or railed against - it should be. Paying stockholders per prisoner is exactly like paying firefighters per fire, and those who advocate it are creating burned-out tree-trunks, chain gangs and yachts.

But it's all gonna come to pass because when you tempt conservatives with a taste of greed, they'll do almost anything - you could pour water into their ears and they'd think they were sailing.

Hmmm... good points. The GOP is just the downstairs servant staff for the 1% above them - who suck up to their riches like barnacles to a pier. The GOP had better pay big attention to what they are doing. There will never be a road back to honor and trust once they reveal their true intent to radically curtail the rights of women.

There's no nuance here; either you make your choices, or the government makes them for you - it is one way or the other.

Piled high with explanations as to why nature has it wrong, the writer's wisdom is that 17-year olds having sex is "a self-esteem battering similar to tossing Christians to the lions." This minder's mind is not giving us the answer; which can only come from dealing with those things that let 'normal' turn into horrendous - not waring against 'normal'.
