Wrong solution. But the conservatives secretly love it! Going toward sales-tax based funding for government is probably the final off-ramp for progressive taxing in America - for those with average incomes, the percentage of their income being taxed would increase and become greater than those with higher incomes. It's just a nasty old fact - one that the right spends a lot of time trying to spin into their ubiquitous, pseudo-argument about the mythical "job creators" in the GOP.
Other fun fact! - citizens in sales-tax free states will be forced to now pay sales-tax on out-state-purchases, but not in-state purchases.
