National Texting While Driving Ban: U.S. Urges No Cell Phones, No Texting While Driving


NTSB chairman Deborah Hersman says that "No email, no text, no update, no call is worth a human life." Ok, then neither is owning a car worth a human life, nor is owning a gun worth accidental death, nor drinking and...



She's using a conversati­on-stopper­, and it isn't very helpful. We need better facts, and one of the things that the public really needs to know is in what ways hands-free communicat­ion is any worse than conversati­on with a passenger.



Hersman says, "We're not here to win a popularity contest," when in fact human beings choose and accept danger and risk every day, and in myriad ways. We may want to work for solutions less drastic than total cessation. I hope she's trying to scare us and jump-start a conversati­on - if so; this is a good start.
