This is a survey of what people 'think' are the best cars, not what 'are' the best cars. Huge difference; one is about a perception, the other about a truth. Sales efforts, and salesmen, maneuver to control perceptions, but truth takes a tad more brainwork.
I believe that the Japanese cars are still the best out there, but I also think it's terrific that GM has the great luck to be selling fine looking cars - just when everyone starts to take a new look.
