Microsoft Still Has A Chance To Get Into The Tablet Game: Citigroup Report

It just sounds so pathetic. It's like their big plan might be "a free mouse with every tablet!" - or they might follow the senior citizens at Blackberry off the cliff to the sound of 1980 Queen tunes.

Blocking Thoughts: Yes, You Can Stop Thinking About It

After observation and a few amateur experiments, I came to realize that if I continued to worry over something, nothing about the reality of the situation changed. So there was no benefit to worrying - in fact, it was a total waste of time. So I began using a "no" technique. Whenever unwanted thoughts entered my mind I would quickly and decisively say "no!" - if I was alone I would say it out loud, but either way it would be firm and I would immediately stop the unwanted thinking. It has always worked for me.

Although I rely on my "no" technique, I read about and tried another one specifically for nighttime worrying where you get up, write down each of the things you are worrying about and make a note as to the next time you really need to think about this. Then go back to bed. I've tried this twice and it worked both times.

In Shift, Feds Target Top Execs For Health Fraud

It should indeed make the industry nervous - and I hope it makes their coin-operated political enablers even more nervous. Pretty soon now, Americans are going to realize that healthcare is the criminal enterprise of our times - billionaires all over the place; bankrupt families everywhere - and Medicare will only be fixed - and saved - by bringing down costs. The public won't ever accept a lessening of service and benefits, and the wealthy will shoot anyone who raises their taxes, so there's no other choice. Big Pharma and the whole healthcare industry is crawling through the economy like rats scooping up every monetary crumb and leaving nothing but desolation, depression and the groans of millions of middle-class Americans.

Mitt Romney Blasts Obama: 'One Of The Most Ineffective Presidents,' He's 'Failed'

When I hear Romney explain why he once accepted his church's belief that black people had no souls, then I will listen - in fact, I have to listen because until I hear something acceptable, I don't have any desire or reason to trust him. I will need evidence that his ideas can offer some blessing to society before he's even a blip on my radar.

Germany Nuclear Power Plants To Be Entirely Shut Down By 2022

Sympathy for the Devil: Why the Major Labels Might Be Right This Time

Ok, I thought about it, and I'm still not going back to buying a CD full of tunes when all I want is one tune.

The record industry is like the Yellow Pages - which should have owned internet search, but gave it up to Yahoo, and then Google, because something stopped them from evolving. The record business should have stood by the new internet doorway and figured out the new rules, but instead they stayed in their darkened warehouses and plotted ways to charge me for everything going in my ears.

You are absolutely right. In fact, this is all about young people - far more than it's about seniors and current retirees. Brandon Ross Charged With Murder After Police Fatally Shoot 15-Year-Old Companion

It's the law on its head. In my mind, murder is when you actually - in physical space - kill someone. Others can be accomplices - and charged as severely as the one who kills - but don't try to tell me that the meaning of the word has changed. It hasn't, except in the butchered vocabulary of those who also believe that a 10 year-old can be charged as an adult. 'Wellywood' Sign Has Hollywood Seeing Double

Okay, but here's another "Hollywood type" that knows what you can't know - I grew up in Hollywood, bicycled through those hills, explored the studio backlots, graduated from Hollywood High, began a career and... and all along, that sign was there, as big as all outdoors and something eternal for those of us who lived beneath it. It's not our art, it's our place, and we defend it.

I don't really care about Wellywood and their sign - I care about clichés posing as truth and getting in my way.

The Rules Have Changed - The New Bagaudes

'I Played By The Rules' -- 'The Rules Have Changed': "'On the eve of my 60th birthday and without marketable skills I have no chance of ever finding a job again in the traditional economy,' writes a North Carolinian who's been out of work nearly two years. 'I am determined to survive this horror show. But my survival will not be determined by our broken economy. It’s 'think outside the box' time. Traditional methods obviously won’t work for people like me.'"

Once upon a time; as the end neared in the viscious 5th century, the rules bent beyond where anything about Roman life could help at all. Families were abandoning their meager farms and the confiscatory taxes; men were shutting their urban shops, and increasingly more and more people avoided their place in civic life; eventually abandoning all to hit the road in many forms - as lawless gangs, as scavenging thieves seeking food, as roaming peasants, and as 'Bagaudes' - road warriors with nothing to lose as the greater culture of their Roman world collapsed behind them, and the medieval future formed in the mist up ahead.
