The Insularity of American Literature: Philip Roth Didn't Deserve the Booker International Prize

Excellent article on its topic, but to me far more unsettling in pointing to the undeniable reality of our cultural irrelevanc­e to those for whom we once hoped to be champions. We Americans are strapped to our pleasures and our pains - and don't know what to do except compete against each other for more of it.
