Whitman spends tons more - loses supporters !
...shaggy dog version: there once was a very small, profitable cookie company that decided to spend a huge amount on advertising. Sales went up, then suddenly went down significantly and the company folded. Turns out that their cookies had never been well-liked at all, and that they had survived through the years by a certain amount of people trying their cookies, then never buying them again. The sudden, huge advertising effort had caused lots and lots of people to try their cookies, then never buy them again. The company fell off the business cliff.
So I've made my choice.
