I'm with you on the facts. That is exactly what happened - WWII was THE spending engine that propelled the country out of the depression. Then, we eventually payed it all off. Of course, there are many more components of the depression landscape, but allowing the country to wither by not having the courage to expect and finance a positive future, is death to a civilization.
