The Velvet Revolution

The Velvet Underground & Nico:  The album believed by many to be the greatest rock album of all time. "Its true greatness was revealed when Vaclav Havel, newly elected president of Czechoslovakia, met the Velvet Underground’s Lou Reed in 1990 and said, 'Did you know that I am president because of you?' They had plenty of access to Beatles bootlegs in Czechoslovakia, but it was the radical, pre-punk sounds of the Velvet Underground that truly inspired the so-called 'velvet revolution' (and yes, it was named after the band)."

..."One symbolic element of the demonstrations of the Velvet Revolution was the jingling of keys, to symbolize the unlocking of doors. A commemorative 2 Euro coin was issued by Slovakia on 17 November 2009, to mark the twentieth anniversary of the Velvet Revolution. The coin depicts a bell with a key adjoining the clapper, reflecting the symbolic role of keys in the revolution. Ursula LeGuin wrote a short story, 'Unlocking the Air,' in which the jingling of keys played a central role in the liberation of a fictional country, Orsinia."

All hail rock and roll !!!
