Wow, now that's what I call a major buzz kill...
Not a huge surprise though. By the end of the Roman Empire, 'everyone' hated the feds, rich and poor - the poor outran the dreaded tax collectors just as much as the rich. Of course, what came next was way worse, as the western world crumbled, and took a medieval nap for a thousand years.
