Wells Fargo Pays $24 Million To End Investigation Over Dubious Mortgages
While it's true that many home-buyers misused the slackened rules, most were victims of the market-place disaster. My conclusion is that the collapse of 'Professionalism' is at the core of this gigantic, historic pile of malfeasance. The mortgage lenders were the professionals, supposedly with standards, but far too many were playing the greed game - or enabling it with inaction. I hold them far more accountable than the hopeful, first-time house purchaser, merely hoping to acquire a family home.
Greed, not hope, is at the core of our crises.
