
During the depression of the 1930s, Roosevelt'
s Social Security plan included the rationale of enabling older workers to retire, opening up many much-needed jobs for the unemployed. Of course, this was liberal thinking - and today we can't even allow conversations on such social engineering solutions without unleashing the wrath of ignorant, cranky GOP blowhards, know-nothing Tea-Party crankcases, and humanity's vast army of noisy, wrongheaded, interchangeable Gingriches.
Here's the takeaway: If government can help, the right-wing is against it - surely the sign of impending doom for America's middle-class, and our heritage to the world.
