California Women Prisons: Inmates Face Sexual Abuse, Lack Of Medical Care And Unsanitary Conditions

That some women are put into this hellish incarcerat­ion for non-violen­t offenses such as chronic marijuana use - and not any other crime - is mind boggling enough, but to realize that you and I are knowingly doing this to people - day in and day out - is a soul-wrenc­hing indictment of each of us, or American values, or both.



With great enthusiasm they're building 'creationi­st' theme parks to celebrate fundamenta­list religious values, but our prison institutio­ns are the real theme parks that America has built - abysmal celebratio­ns of hatred, fear, and deadening spiritual emptiness.
