Upside Down: Why Millennials Can't Start Their Careers And Baby Boomers Can't End Theirs


This bit of boiler-pla­te ignorance cannot be allowed to be a part of the argument: "After all, as life expectanci­es lengthen, the U.S. can’t afford its social-saf­ety net without extending the retirement age." This misleading misinforma­tion on life expectancy seems to be stuck in the craw of hordes of otherwise good thinkers. It is very, very dangerous; it will cause us to make terrible mistakes in dealing with retirement and aging.



The issue is how many years someone will live who reaches the age of 65; not life expectancy from birth.
